Military Search and Rescue Efforts Launched

Authorities in Mexico has deployed naval assets and military search aircraft to locate the Friendship and Tigger Moth, which were had on board no fewer than nine sailors, as stated by a official statement.

The boats had been scheduled to make landfall in Cuba's capital on the early part of the week, but there has been a complete lack of contact from them and no confirmation of their arrival, the navy said.

Background of Aid to the Island

Cuba has leaned on aid convoys from Mexico over the past few weeks, as the country struggles through widespread nationwide blackouts.

"Both captains and crews are seasoned mariners, and both vessels are outfitted with appropriate navigational gear and communication devices," a representative associated with the mission commented.

The nine individuals on board are nationals of the United States, Cuba, France, and Poland. Mexico said it has been in touch with maritime rescue coordination centres from those nations along with their diplomatic representatives.

"The group is working closely with the officials and continue to be hopeful in the ability of the crews to reach Havana safely," the spokesperson added.

Previous Relief Delivery
