This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

While perhaps not at the equivalent scale as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued from the start of the beginning of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, donated by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so pervasive that a prominent word reference recently made “6-7” its top term for the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to open the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, diverse, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Every time, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and strong coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
