Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
