Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a former doctor now faces charges for performing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
