Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding win that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the last 16, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, scoring for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Wraps Up the Contest

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
