Wilfried Nancy insisted he had no concerns about the sack, asserting, “The team is extremely close to things turning around,” even after sliding worryingly close to being fired with a heavy setback against their arch-rivals.

A Second-Half Meltdown Sees Old Firm Disaster

“Really, Really Close”

He continues to cling to the fact the side play well for a half at a time. Indeed, if not for wastefulness in front of goal they would have been greater than 1-0 up. “There were positives except the fact that we missed our chances,” he said. “I know that we lost, but I have also to be fair.

“The performance we had at times was of top quality. This is the reality. And I would not speak so positively if it was not the case. But that’s why, regarding outcomes, I said this is the same story. For that reason I believe we are nearly there to things turning around. Currently: details, details, details.”

“I saw plenty of positives that we did, as was the case today. But now it’s about performing for 90 minutes. My narrative would be different if I didn't believe it. This is why I firmly believe we will manage to fix this.”

Röhl’s Cautious Response

The victorious boss played down talk of a title charge even after what seemed like a statement victory. “We take it game by game, so we can really build up momentum,” he said. “The belief in the squad is excellent.”
