Adult Swim's Premier New Show of 2025 Secures a Substantial Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

In October of last year, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as gentle and comforting, evoking a animated take of a contemplative talk show. At a time often characterized by dark humor, this show's sincerity struck a chord and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, Adult Swim revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two more seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," remarked Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat sensibility.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about following this charming family go about their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to evolve comedy past its long-running layer of irony. He linked this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to bask in the gentle humor of the beloved Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
